Prep and bake
- Preheat the oven to 375°F and grease a 9x13 baking dish.
- Season the chicken with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika, then place it in the prepared dish.
- Whisk sour cream, mayonnaise, ranch seasoning mix, and garlic powder until smooth.
- Spread the sour cream mixture generously over each chicken breast.
- Top with 1.5 cups shredded cheddar cheese (divided), grated Parmesan cheese, and crumbled bacon.
- Bake for 28-32 minutes at 375°F until the topping is golden and bubbly and the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
- Garnish with fresh chives before serving.
Notes
For the thickest, most caramelized crust, make sure the topping covers the chicken edge-to-edge and keep the dish on the middle rack. Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days; reheat in a 325°F oven until warmed through. Freeze is not recommended because the sour cream topping can separate after thawing. For a lighter option, use light mayonnaise and low-fat sour cream to reduce richness while keeping the tangy flavor.
