Ingredients

Chicken breasts
  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts Pounded to an even 3/4-inch thickness
Seasoning
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp cracked black pepper
Serving
  • 1 Fresh parsley For serving
  • 1 lemon wedges For serving

Equipment

  • 1 air fryer

Method

Prep
  1. Preheat the air fryer to 390°F. Preheating helps the coating brown quickly for a golden exterior.
  2. Pound the chicken breasts to an even 3/4-inch thickness if needed for uniform cooking. This prevents thin edges from overcooking before thicker parts reach doneness.
  3. Brush both sides of the chicken with olive oil. The oil helps the seasoning adhere and promotes caramelization.
  4. Mix together garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, Italian seasoning, salt, and cracked black pepper. Rub the spice blend evenly over both sides of the chicken for full flavor coverage.
Air-fry
  1. Air fry at 390°F for 16-18 minutes, flipping halfway through. Cook until the internal temperature reaches 165°F and the outside is golden.
Rest and serve
  1. Rest the chicken for 5 minutes before slicing. Resting keeps the juices inside so the interior stays tender.
  2. Garnish with fresh parsley and lemon wedges before serving. The bright lemon and herb finish cut through the smoky spice crust.

Notes

For the juiciest chicken, keep the thickness consistent (3/4-inch) and avoid overcrowding the basket so hot air circulates. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge up to 3 days; reheat in the air fryer at 350°F until warmed through (about 4-6 minutes). Freezing is yes—freeze cooled slices up to 2 months and reheat from frozen. For a lower-sodium option, use half the salt and keep the pepper for flavor.
